This is a big week for us and we could not be more excited. It all started back in November when Dave called Jen and said “What if we plan our website launch around Mardi Gras?” Here we are 5 months later and the big event is finally upon us! We could not be more grateful that Dewayne and Brittany from Southport Tap and Cellar agreed to partner with us and help us launch TheEventGuide.com
This week kicked off with the Oak Island, North Carolina Festival by the Sea Mardi Gras Parade. We decked out the jeep and with Rob behind the wheel and Monkey as the co-pilot we were all set to throw out beads to all the parade onlookers. It was a little cool outside but that didn’t stop the spectators from lining both sides of Oak Island Drive!
During the Week…
The Parade is just the beginning of our Mardi Gras Kick off. This Sunday at Southport Tap and Cellar is our big Mardi Gras Carnival! We have so many fun things planned for Sunday and the weather is looking amazing! Part of the fun will be having the crowd just the King Cake contest. We are thrilled that so many people signed up to enter! We even made our own version of a king cake to enter as well.
The crowd will be judging on appearance of all the entries, however, we will have a panel of judges do the tasting portion. We want everyone to be able to enjoy the special king cake flavor so we have been baking hundreds of cupcakes all week for the Mardi Gras Carnival this weekend.
We invite everyone to join us this Sunday at Southport Tap and Cellar from 1pm -5pm. Here are just some of the things you can expect:
• (2) Food Trucks – Wheelz Pizza & PapaDom’s
• Live Band – Bacon Grease
• King Cake Baking Competition Judging
• King Cake Eating Contest
• Raffle give aways throughout the day
• Costume Contest
• Lots of Beads and Masks
Please try our cupcakes!
This event is Free (no ticket needed), Open to the public, and Family Friendly!
