Jen and Dave Entertain Out of Town Guests

Jen and Dave Entertain Out of Town Guests

This weekend Jen had visitors from Savannah, GA and Milwaukee, WI come to visit. Of course we had to “tell them where to go” or in this case take them! We had a fun filled weekend and the weather was very cooperative.

Friday evening Jen and Rob took them to Island Way for dinner, it was fantastic as always, the ladies loved being able to have some fresh seafood. After dinner they met up with Dave at Second Wind to see Jackknife perform, it was a lot of fun and one of our guests even had to get new shoes from dancing so much.

Saturday was spent with a lot of time in the pool, but we were finally able to get them dried off in time to go to dinner at Edgewater 122. It was so wonderful to be able to make an open table reservation and dine outside and watch the boats go past. We even had our favorite waiter Austin serving up the creatively crafted dishes and Hannah mixing up some lively spirits, not scary spirits but more on that later!

After dinner we stopped at The Mullet bar for a drink before boarding our boat for a sightseeing tour with Southport Water Tours. We had a great time cruising the Cape Fear River while watching birds and seeing a lot of dolphins, what could be better than that?

After the boat we we went on the Old South Tour Company’s lantern-led Ghost Walk Tour. As we were led through the streets of downtown Southport we heard spine tingling stories of specters and haunts and learned about the rich and sometimes little known history of the Southport area. This was a great treat, we have never done it before, but I’m sure will again soon!

Sunday we went to Second Wind to attend the Teal over Tears fundraiser for Ovarian Cancer Research followed by a little shopping in Southport. Before heading home we stopped in at Southport Tap and Cellar for a beer while Dave was hosting music bingo. The girls were very excited to see the giant cut-out of us and had to get a photo!

Monday Jen rented two more ebikes and helmets like hers from OKI Bike and Paddle Co. and she and the girls cruised around the island shopping at Strands, Dunes Mercantile and Mermaid Cove.

It was a great weekend with great company, and great weather. When you have visitors in town, don’t stress on how to entertain them, just go to TheEventGuide.com!
