Dave Wins Employee of the Month!

It has been awfully tense at TheEventGuide.com’s headquarters! After a lot of hard work and dedication, Dave was awarded Employee of The Month and Jen is not too thrilled. It was definitely a close race with Dave just squeaking past her in the votes. Jen of course is a good sport but it is obvious that she feels that she deserves it–at least for this month.
Jen has worked incredibly hard to keep the site running and clients happy while it appears that Dave mostly air fried pizza rolls, watched trashy tv, and lounged by the pool. According to Dave, “If I hadn’t made lunch and enforced our breaks, Jen would have worked herself to the bone!…So really, I deserve this award for keeping the team from burnout and providing ridiculous distractions.”

After the announcement, Jen decided to get out of town for a bit to visit her son. She claims it was planned months in advance but Dave says he has no recollection of that.
All is well though, Jen will be back soon and TheEventGuide.com will of course continue to provide all the info you need to have some fun this summer.

Dear Diary-
Today has been a bit disappointing for me. I found out that I didn’t get the Employee of the Month award at work. I must admit, I’m feeling a mix of emotions right now. On one hand, I’m feeling a sense of frustration and sadness because I put in a lot of effort and thought I had a good chance of winning. On the other hand, I’m trying to remind myself that this doesn’t define my worth or my abilities as a co-owner of TheEventGuide.com.
I had been working extra hours, taking on additional responsibilities, and going above and beyond to make a positive impact within our community. I genuinely believed that my hard work and dedication would be recognized and appreciated. But it seems that someone else’s contributions were valued more highly this time around (Dave).
I won’t deny that it stings a little, and even though it may seem like Dave just lounges around all the time watching tv, and I don’t know what his obsession with pizza rolls are, but I know he is working all the time getting events entered into the calendar. I’m always texting him at odd hours of the night and morning with events to add to TheEventGuide.com. He also does an amazing job of keeping up with ever changing events do to weather and scheduling changes and reaching out to businesses to get their events. (It’s not as easy as you would think!)
I’m trying to shift my perspective and see this as an opportunity for growth and reflection. That’s why I’m packing up and heading out of town, to heal my wounds.
It’s important not to dwell on setbacks but instead to channel that energy into positive actions. I’ll take some time to process my feelings and then refocus on my goals. I’ll remind myself that the Employee of the Month award is just one form of recognition, and there are many other ways to measure success, and maybe one day I too will earn a black and white laser printed certificate to put next to Dave’s on my coffee table!
Love-
Jen
